Today is July 15th. According to basically every Garmin-watcher site, this is one of the two most likely dates left for the CIRQA to actually launch. So — did it?
No. Still not here. Six months into this saga and Garmin still hasn't officially acknowledged a product that everyone knows exists.
Here's where the paper trail actually stands.
What's been confirmed
The January leak from Garmin's Canadian site gave us two sizes, two colors, and a 010-series part number. Garmin only assigns those to final retail hardware. This product is done. It's sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
In May, code dug out of the Garmin Connect app confirmed dedicated screenless device support — wear position setup, phone-side controls, the whole infrastructure. That's not speculation, that's Garmin's own software.
June brought trademark filings in Canada and the EU, and the language in those filings is the interesting part. It doesn't just say heart rate and sleep tracking. It covers recovery from physical and emotional stress, alertness, and performance. That's broader than any current Garmin stress metric, and the leading theory is EDA sensing — electrodermal activity, your skin's electrical response to stress hormones. Whoop doesn't have that. Fitbit Air doesn't have that. If Garmin ships real EDA sensing, that's a legitimate differentiator.
Why July 19th matters
The FCC confidentiality window on the CIRQA filing expires July 19th. That's a hard regulatory deadline — after that date, the filing becomes public regardless of what Garmin wants. Combined with the UK trademark moving to pre-publication on July 2nd (which typically means formal publication within two to three weeks), you get exactly the dates everyone's been circling.
Meanwhile, what happened
While Garmin's been sitting on a finished product, Google launched the Fitbit Air in May at $99 and dominated the conversation for an entire week. A recognizable brand, a price almost anyone can say yes to, Gemini-powered AI coaching, and an app that aggregates data from Garmin, Oura, and Apple Watch. That launch reshaped what this category looks like before Garmin even showed up.
The CIRQA isn't a dead product. But the window to make a real splash in wellness tracking got significantly smaller in May.
Where I think this lands
Around $299. The $507 Ukrainian retailer leak doesn't hold up against what Garmin knows this category needs to look like now. Sub-$300 undercuts Whoop on lifetime cost with no subscription required for core metrics. That was always the play.
